Victim beaten with skillet; $26 taken

A man struck another man on the head with a meat tenderizer and a skillet Monday morning during a robbery that yielded $26, according to a Fort Wayne police report.

The victim told police he had given a ride to a man who later came to his apartment in the 7900 block of Decatur Road, demanding money and threatening to kill him, the report stated.

The two wrestled in the kitchen, and the victim was hit several times with a wooden meat tenderizer and a small skillet, leaving him with bumps on his head and a small gash, the report said.

The robber also tried to stab the victim, but he wrestled the knife away from him, the report said.

The robber ultimately fled with $26.

He was described as 40 to 50 years old, 6 feet tall and black. He had a medium build and wore a black sweat suit with a white stripe.
