  • TinCaps’ bats swat away Bees
Meteorology didn’t decide it this time, one night after Christmas Hijacks April. Simple mathematics did.Simple math, as in four plus two plus three equals, eventually, a robust night Tuesday for a TinCaps club that needed one.
  • Snow, yes, snow ends TinCaps’ game early
This was hardly a night from the Boys of Summer Collection, with rain/sleet/snow lashing Parkview Field, the mercury cliff-diving through the 30s and every chilled breath curling visibly around every well-swaddled head.
  • VanMeter sparks TinCaps rally
Norwell graduate Josh VanMeter scored the tying run in the ninth inning and the go-ahead run in the 11th to lead the TinCaps to a 6-4 win Saturday over the LumberKings in Clinton, Iowa.

TinCaps to offer free shuttles

Fort Wayne will try out a free parking and trolley shuttle service for Wednesday’s 11:05 a.m. game, the TinCaps announced Monday.

The pickup and parking area will be at 2400 W. Jefferson Blvd., adjacent to SweetCars and Westwood Lanes. Those who park at that location will be taken to Parkview Field’s south gate.

“We wanted to make parking an even easier and more memorable experience, so we looked into the option of offering free parking and trolley rides,” TinCaps vice president Brian Schackow said in a statement. “May 15 will be a trial run of what may become a regular part of day games in downtown Fort Wayne. It all depends on how many people choose to use this free parking service.

“If there is enough demand, we will continue to provide it.”

Trolley service will begin at 10 a.m., about an hour before first pitch, with shuttles running every 15 minutes. The shuttles will run back to the parking area for 45 minutes after the final out of the game.

Wednesday’s trial run is the only date set for trolley use, the TinCaps said.
