Burglars take 14 guns in daytime theft

Burglars broke into a LaGrange County home on Monday and stole 14 guns, the county sheriff's department said today.

The burglars used a crowbar between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m. to force their way into a home in the 10000 block of East County Road 375 North, the sheriff's department said in a statement.

The firearms were a combination of handguns and long guns, the statement said.

It said police believe two groups of people are performing daytime burglaries in the county, and they "urge homeowners to be observant of their surroundings and to call in any suspicious vehicles, persons or activity that they observe."
