    Citing sustained success and an "amazing" commitment to community service, the online trade magazine Ballpark Digest recognized the TinCaps as its 2014 team of the year.
  • Ex-TinCap Mallex Smith voted minors' top offensive player
    Mallex Smith, who was the TinCaps' center fielder for the 2013 season and the first half of 2014, was voted by fans as the top offensive player in the minor leagues during the past season.

Bowling Green takes Game 1

Fort Wayne put up runs in the seventh and eighth inning, including Gabriel Quintana's home run.

It was not enough for the TinCaps as they fell 3-2 to Bowling Green.

The home squad lost its fourth game at Parkview Field in 17 tries against a Hot Rods team tied for first in the Midwest League Eastern Division.

Fort Wayne (22-14) starter Joe Ross gave up all three of Bowling Green's runs and was handed his first loss.

Reinaldo Lopez, who pitched five innings of shutout ball, got the win for the Hot Rods (24-13), and Ryan Ganton picked up the save.

The TinCaps will try to even the series Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m.
