Sex offender pleads guilty to molesting

Already convicted of a sex offense, 29-year-old Daniel Taylor pleaded guilty Friday in Allen Superior Court to child molesting and failing to register as a sex offender.

Taylor, of Fort Wayne, was charged in March with four counts of child molesting and being a repeat sex offender, as well as a separate case, filed in February, accusing him of failing to register.

On Friday, he pleaded guilty to an additional, newly filed charge of child molesting, a Class B felony punishable by six to 20 years in prison. Under the terms of a plea agreement, the additional charges in that case will be dismissed, and any prison sentence will be served after he serves a four-year prison sentence in the failure to register case, court records said.

The charges allege Taylor molested a girl between April 2009 and March 2010, inappropriately touching her several times and forcing her to have sex.

In October 2004, Taylor was arrested on charges of rape and sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old girl. In January 2006, a jury convicted him of sexual misconduct with a minor but acquitted him of rape. He was sentenced to probation and required to register as a sex offender, according to court documents. Several months later, he was accused of violating his probation by having contact with a child younger than 16 and failing to complete other requirements.
