Heal the Land service
The Peace and Justice Commission in Allen County will have two Heal the Land services today. The first will be at 12:15 p.m. in the 4300 block of Spatz Avenue, where Tavontae Haney was shot and killed. After the service, a service will take place in the 7700 block of Weymouth Court, where Ryan Koontz was shot and killed.
Ossian Lifetree Café will feature the topic When Love Hurts Ending the Cycle of Domestic Violence from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ossian Presbyterian Church, 123 S. Jefferson, Ossian.
Crescent Avenue United Methodist Church, 1232 Crescent Ave., will have a Taize meditation and worship service 5 p.m. Sunday.
North Manchester Congregational Church, at 4th and Walnut streets in North Manchester, will have its Jonah Club Fish Fry on May 17. Indoor serving lines for the all-you-can-eat dining will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and carryout will be open from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Advanced tickets are $8.50 ($9 at the door) adults, $5 children ages 6 to 10 advance and at the door, and children 5 and younger are free. Salem United Church of Christ, 2401 Lake Ave., will have a painting class from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Cost is $20 and includes all supplies. For reservations, call 749-5847. There will also be a free dinner for the church and community from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Monday.
Bethany Lutheran Church, 2435 Engle Road, will have a fish and tenderloin dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 18. Cost is $8 adults, $5 ages 5 to 12 and children 4 and younger are free. Carryout is available.
