They'll wait a little longer to turn 50.

With rain and temperatures dipping into the low 40s forecast for this evening, Baer Field Speedway and HOSS Spring officials elected to scrub the opening racing program of the season Saturday. The dirt-track go-karts have also been cancelled.

The 50th annual season opener will be rescheduled for Saturday, May 18, and will feature a five-division Super Show of late models, Fantastic Sam's modifieds, street stocks, Afdent Mini Stocks and front-wheel drives. It will also be Scout night, with kids' bicycle races on the docket.

The HOSS Sprints will return July 22.
