Cat stuck on sign up for adoption

– A cat that was tossed off an Elkhart County overpass and spent two days stuck on a sign before being rescued is ready for a new home.

WSBT-TV reports the cat named Freeway by local Humane Society workers has recovered from his injuries and is available to be adopted.

The cat was rescued April 12 after being spotted sitting on a light atop a sign near an overpass along U.S. 33 in Elkhart. Humane Society executive director Anne Reel says it was suffering from hunger, dehydration and leg injuries when street department workers and Humane Society officers arrived.

Humane Society officials say the sign was too far from the overpass for the cat to have jumped there.
