Little information was available Thursday about a man found dead Wednesday night in a wooded area near the Whitley-Allen County line.
Indiana State Police 1st Sgt. Mark Carunchia said a property owner found the man just after 8 p.m. in a heavily wooded area in the 800 block of County Line Road in Whitley County.
It’s unclear how long he had been there, Carunchia said.
Indiana State Police spokesman Ron Galaviz said the body was found about 150 feet from the closest road.
No additional information about the man, or his cause of death, was available Thursday, Galaviz said. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
Galaviz said investigators are working to determine the man’s identity by cross-checking missing persons reports to see if they could find a match. Police are also investigating how long the man had been in the woods, he said.
We’re asking for the public’s help if anyone has any information about how he came to be there, Galaviz said.
Anyone with information that can help investigators in this case is asked to call the state police at 260-432-8661 or 800-552-0976.
