The May 12, 2013, edition of Parade magazine, available in print copies of The Journal Gazette, features an interview with a family that hosted different dinner guests each Sunday while its husband/father was serving overseas.

Parade features family of deployed soldier

Parade magazine is included in Sunday print editions of The Journal Gazette. Here is the cover story of this week’s Parade:

When author Sarah Smiley’s husband deployed overseas for a yearlong tour, an entire community stepped in to fill his empty seat at the table, including neighbors, a police chief and a U.S. senator. The nationally syndicated columnist and her young sons share with Parade what they have learned from their weekly dinner guests.

(The publisher of Parade sent a notice to The Journal Gazette saying that a portion of the story is duplicated in a jump column. Sorry, ahead of time, about the repetition.)

Also featured in this Sunday’s edition of Parade:

  • Talk show Wendy Williams talks about her wigs, finding her groove, and the one question she won’t ask.
  • Easy Mother’s Day recipes, including summery scones and a special brunch cocktail.
