Man found dead near Whitley-Allen county line

A man was found dead Wednesday night in a wooded area near the Whitley-Allen County line, state police said.

Indiana State Police First Sergeant Mark Carunchia said a property owner found the man just after 8 p.m. in a heavily wooded area in the 800 block of County Line Road in Whitley County. It's unclear how long he had been there, Carunchia said.

Investigators are working to determine the man's identity, how he got to where he was found and the cause and manner of his death. An autopsy is scheduled.
