Police standoff ends peacefully

A despondent man barricaded himself in a north-side home Friday morning, city police said.

Officers were called to the 6200 block of Belle Isle Lane at 8:16 a.m. about a suicide threat involving a man who had access to firearms and was under the influence of alcohol or another substance, according to police.

Police said the man surrendered peacefully about an hour later. Two firearms were found inside, but police said no ammunition was located.

The man was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
