Arson fire by store could draw 10 years

A Fort Wayne man who admitted to setting fires outside a drugstore after arguing with the store’s manager is now looking at up to 10 years in prison.

Kyee Mint, 59, of the 2700 block of McKinnie Avenue, pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of arson as part of a plea agreement he made with Allen County prosecutors.

Mint had been accused of setting two fires next to the Walgreens at 2410 Coliseum Blvd. N. in December, according to Allen Superior Court records.

Surveillance video captured Mint arguing with a manager inside the store and then again near the fires, which were set next to the building.

As part of his plea deal, a judge will decide how much time behind bars Mint must serve but it cannot exceed 10 years.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced next month.
