Coroner confirms ID of gunman killed in police-action shooting

FORT WAYNE – The Allen County Coroner's Office has officially identified the Fort Wayne man shot and killed by police Thursday morning in a north-side neighborhood.

The death of Ryan J. Koontz, 22, has been ruled a homicide, the city and county's 17th of 2013.

The shooting remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Indiana State Police, the coroner's office and the Allen County Prosecutor's Office.
