Friday standoff ends peacefully

FORT WAYNE – A despondent man barricaded himself in a north-side home Friday morning, police said.

Officers were called to the 6200 block of Belle Isle Lane at 8:16 a.m. about a suicide threat involving a man who had access to firearms and was under the influence of alcohol or another substance, police said in a statement.

Police said the man surrendered peacefully about an hour later. Two firearms were found inside, but police said no ammunition was located.

The man was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
