Cheap generic grape jelly will please your orioles after a long trip back home.

Orioles are back

Every year my Baltimore orioles return on the first of May. I put out my oriole and hummingbird feeders in mid-April just in case they arrived earlier. I had heard a rumor that the hummingbirds were heading north earlier this year but that didn't hold true. I am still waiting to spot my first hummingbird. They will show up any day now.

I put out grape jelly, an orange, mealworms and sugar water for the orioles. But, it is the constant supply of insects in my neighborhood that makes them nest nearby.

I mix one part sugar to four parts water for my hummingbird and oriole feeders. Oriole feeders can be mixed 1 to 6 but the hummingbirds and the orioles are always using each other's feeder so I just mix it according to what the hummingbirds like since the orioles don't seem to mind.
