Mallex Smith placed on DL

The TinCaps announced outfielder Mallex Smith has been moved to the disabled list, retroactive to May 1.

Smith had started the season strong for Fort Wayne and was one of its leaders at the plate. He played as both a designated hitter and a center fielder, and led the TinCaps in stolen bases with nine before his injury.

Smith batted .284 through the first 20 games of the season.

The Fort Wayne roster is now at 24 players, one below the Midwest League limit.
