Heroin, pot, pills seized from 3 men

Three men were arrested Tuesday in Whitley County after heroin, marijuana and pills were seized during a traffic stop on U.S. 30, Indiana State Police said.

A state trooper stopped a vehicle at County Road 100 South, just outside Columbia City, about 2:40 p.m. About 50 grams of heroin and numerous narcotic pills were discovered inside the vehicle, police said.

Edward J. Jones, 35, of Chicago was charged with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana possession, refusal to identify and false informing. State police said Jones also had two federal arrest warrants on charges of trafficking heroin.

The driver, Michael D. Yoha, 33, of Mansfield, Ohio, was charged with possession of heroin or a narcotic drug of more than 3 grams and possession with intent to distribute.

Vanness D. Oliver, 34, also of Mansfield, was charged with possession of heroin or a narcotic drug of more than 3 grams and possession with intent to distribute.
