Rollover crash on I-94 kills 1

CHESTERTON, Ind. – State police say a 62-year-old Chesterton man was killed when he was thrown from his vehicle in a rollover crash along Interstate 94 in northern Indiana.

Police say Sridhar Mothkur was pronounced dead at the scene of Tuesday night’s accident. The coroner listed the cause of death as blunt force trauma and police say they don’t believe Mothkur was wearing a seat belt.

State police said Mothkur was driving at a high rate of speed when his car struck a box trailer about 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, causing it to flip and roll and ejecting him from the vehicle.

The truck driver was not injured.

The interstate was reopened to traffic about 2 a.m. Wednesday.
