Governor to sign veterans tuition bill at IPFW

FORT WAYNE -- Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and state Sen. Jim Banks of Columbia City will conduct a bill-signing ceremony Thursday for the Tuition for Veterans bill.

Banks wrote the legislation for Senate Bill 177, which goes into effect July 1.

It will be be signed at noon in Kettler Hall, Room 154, on the Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne campus, the university announced Tuesday.

The bill will allow qualified veterans to be eligible for the in-state tuition rate for undergraduate courses at state colleges and universities if they enroll within 12 months after their discharge

from the military.

The ceremony is open to the public.
