Dwenger softball getting in some games

Barring any more inclement weather, the Bishop Dwenger softball team should get what they want this week.

The Saints have seemingly only played on Mondays recently, but after having beaten Northrop 16-1 on Monday and Lakewood Park 4-1 on Tuesday, they still have games this week scheduled against South Side on Wednesday, Eastside on Thursday and a tournament at Garrett on Saturday.

"The girls want to play every night," Dwenger coach Dave Moyer said. "They are ready to play. They don't want to practice."

Like most spring sports teams, the weather this spring has hurt the Saints (6-2), who have had six games cancelled.

Moyer said they are fully booked in May.

"For awhile we were only playing one game a week, so you go out there and hit and then wait a week to hit again," Dwenger junior pitcher Jordan Schneider said. "It is hard to get things started, but now we have a couple of games in a row things are starting to flow."
