    West Jefferson Boulveard will have lane restrictions tonight near theintersection of Hillegas Road and Ardmore Avenue.  The restrictions are expected to start at 8 p.m. and continue until 3 a.m. Wednesday.

CANI plans housing for homeless vets

CANI wants to establish a $5 million housing complex targeting homeless veterans on the grounds of the former Hillcrest Elementary School.

The group is seeking a tax abatement that would save $812,662 over 10 years, according to documents filed with city officials.

Community Action of Northeast Indiana intends to build a 49,000-square-foot facility with 48 one-bedroom apartments on Tillman Road.

CANI President and CEO Steve Hoffman said officials have worked on bringing the project to life since November.

Similar residences in Fort Wayne are Shepherd’s House on Tennessee Avenue, New Life House on East Jefferson Boulevard and the Liberty Landing on South Calhoun Street.
