Francisco named editorial editor


Karen Francisco, a Journal Gazette editorial writer since 2000, has been named editorial page editor.

Francisco’s editorial writing has focused on issues involving education and state government.

Over the years, she has been honored with first-place awards from the Indiana Associated Press Managing Editors Association, the Inland Press Association, the Hoosier State Press Association, Indiana Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Indiana State Teachers Association.

She joined The Journal Gazette after nearly two decades at Muncie newspapers.

She was a reporter and editorial page editor for the Muncie Evening Press and metro editor for the Star Press.

She is married to Brian Francisco, the Washington editor of The Journal Gazette.
