    Aaron Scott went 3 for 3 with two doubles and a triple as the Canterbury baseball team held on to defeat Churubusco 10-8 Saturday.The Cavaliers (2-1) four runs in the second, five in the fifth and one in the sixth.
  • North Side edges Carroll on road
    North Side beat Carroll 4-2 on the road in baseball Friday.The Redskins scored two runs in the first inning, one in the fifth and one in the seventh. Keegan Carroll picked up the win, despite allowing 10 hits.
  • Back playing softball
    On a sunny April evening at Canterbury’s softball field, Allie Brumbaugh swung and missed on two straight balls batting left-handed and looked down at the third-base coaching area in frustration.

Northrop gets 10th straight win

– The Northrop baseball team won its 10th straight game in an 8-1 decision over host Bishop Dwenger on Friday.

The Bruins improved to 6-0 in the SAC, while the Saints (2-8-1) fell to 1-5.

Cory Ferguson picked up the win on the mound, while Charlie Sipe, Colin Brockhouse and Corey Bloom each had doubles in a nine-hit attack.

HERITAGE 12, SOUTH ADAMS 1: On the same day the Patriots’ veteran pitching coach Don Grabner was buried, the team honored his memory with a big home win.

Andrew Saalfrank struck out 11 in 4 1/3 innings, while Landon Harris had a home run and Cole Gerardot a three-run triple.

LEO 10, GARRETT 0: Carter Davis gave up only two hits in the Lions’ home five-inning win.

Jackson Boyce was 2 for 2 with three runs scored.

Golf

BISHOP DWENGER 149, DEKALB 167: Spencer Gillig’s 34 and Callahan Elzey’s 36 led the Saints at Bridgewater West.

The Barons got a 37 from Spencer Shoemaker.

Tennis

NORTHROP 3, NORTH SIDE 2: Alex Neyman picked up the clinching win for the host Bruins.

With the match tied at 2, Neyman beat the Redskins’ Mariah Kiefer 6-0, 6-3.

HOMESTEAD 4, BISHOP DWENGER 1: Kelsey Vessels beat the Saints’ Leah Stetzel 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the host Spartans.
