Women advance, men eliminated

The IPFW women's tennis team (21-7) advanced into Saturday's Summit League tournament championship round with a 4-0 victory over South Dakota on Friday at the IPFW tennis courts.

The top-seeded Mastodons, who won the regular-season championship, will face either second-seeded UMKC or No. 3 seed South Dakota State in the 1 p.m. finals Saturday. The tournament winner champion advances to the NCAA tournament.

IPFW's fourth-seeded men (9-17) fell to top-seeded UMKC 5-1 on Friday in the first round of the men's bracket.

After winning the doubles point, the IPFW women got singles wins from Summit League Player of the Year Anita Henestrosa, Caterina Kiefer and Mila Shustova.

The lone men's point came from Joao Freitas.
