Pair of no-hitters on prep diamond

Huntington North’s Connor West and Angola’s Skylar Parker each recorded no-hitters in high school baseball action Monday.

West improved to 3-0 by no-hitting Snider in a 12-0 victory. West was one hit batsman away from a perfect game and struck out five.

Isaiah Newton of Snider earned the honor of breaking up the perfect game when he was hit by a pitch from West. He was the only runner to reach base for the the Panthers (1-5).

The Vikings improved to 5-3.

Parker’s no-hitter came in a 1-0 Northeast Corner Conference tournament win over Churubusco.

Parker struck out 14, setting the school’s career strikeout record, and walked three for the Hornets.

He also drove in the winning run for Angola.
