Groninger tied for third

The IPFW men's and women's golf teams are near the bottom of the field after the first day of the Summit League Golf Championships in Keller, Texas.

With a 315 first-day total, the men are one stroke ahead of last place Nebraska Omaha, while the women's team shot a 345 and are tied for seventh with South Dakota State.

IPFW's Jacob Groninger, however, fired a 2-under 70 and is tied for third place in the individual standings.

Leading the women's team is Allison Curtis with a 6-over 78. She is tied for eighth place.

The tournament is being held at the Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club.
