News and notes

  • Ames will be another tough test for the TinCaps, who are producing far fewer runs on the road than at home. The 6-foot-4 righty has given up two runs in 15 innings and has struck out 15 batters with only one walk to his credit.
  • The pitching on the road hasn't been all that formidable for Fort Wayne, either. The TinCaps have given up their season high in hits, runs and home runs on the road, and Monday gave up a five-run fourth inning that proved to be decisive.
  • Coupled with those road woes is the all-important stat: The TinCaps are on a six-game losing streak away from Parkview Field. The Hot Rods, meanwhile, have an unblemished record on their home diamond.
