INDIANAPOLIS – Thousands of firefighters from around the world are converging on Indianapolis to learn the latest safety techniques and new ways to fight blazes.

The Firefighters Instructors Conference begins Monday and will feature training in extrications, rescues, equipment operation and other scenarios.

The event also will include the 6th Annual Courage and Valor Run dedicated to two Indianapolis medics killed in a crash in February, a showing of the movie “Burn” and the FDIC Memorial Firefighter Stair Climb. The event honors firefighters killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and benefits the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation.
