Work to shift lanes on Indiana 14

FORT WAYNE – The Indiana Department of Transportation announced Monday that there will be a shift of traffic to the north side of Indiana 14 by the end of the day on the city’s far-west side.

The shift will accommodate construction in the eastbound lanes on the south side of the road, INDOT said.

The contractor has placed temporary pavement, widening the existing westbound lanes, to allow traffic to flow both in both directions as lanes are added between West Hamilton Road and Scott Road.

The speed limit has been lowered to 40 mph in the construction zone.

The work will widen Indiana 14 from two lanes to four, with a continuous two-way left turn lane between West Hamilton and Scott, the department said.

Three bridges will be widened and rehabilitated, and one new bridge will be constructed in 2014 east of Scott Road, between Glencarin and Carnegie boulevards.
