TinCaps' road woes continue

The TinCaps continued to slip away from home with a 10-5 loss to Bowling Green, Fort Wayne's sixth-straight road loss.

The TinCaps (9-7) gave up five runs in the fourth inning and were unable to capitalize on an early 3-1 lead.

The surge by the Hot Rods (13-4) forced Fort Wayne deep into its bullpen – and out of it, in the form of third-baseman Diego Goris. Goris pitched in the bottom of the eighth after starter Zach Eflin, Matthew Shepherd, Leonel Campos and Christopher Nunn had all been pulled.

Mallex Smith had another solid outing at the plate for the TinCaps, going 3 for 4.

Only one other Fort Wayne player – Gorgis – registered more than one hit.

Eflin is now 0-2 as a starter after surrendering five hits and six runs – five earned – in 3 1/3 innings. Shepherd didn't fare much better against the bats in the fourth, giving up two runs before the end of it and three in the next before Campus took the hill.
