    Mallex Smith, who was the TinCaps' center fielder for the 2013 season and the first half of 2014, was voted by fans as the top offensive player in the minor leagues during the past season.

TinCaps sweep Lansing

The TinCaps managed to put together some solid defense in the final three innings to shut the door on Lansing and earn a series sweep with a 7-5 win.

Fort Wayne (9-6) got its first sweep of the season, and its first since July of last season, with a topsy-turvy finale against the Lugnuts (4-9).

The TinCaps were undaunted by five-run sixth from Lansing that tied the game at 5 and put together two runs in a decisive bottom half.

Fort Wayne reliever Leonel Campos and closer Roman Madrid finished the game.

Fort Wayne heads to Bowling Green on Monday to play the Hot Rods (12-4). First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
