4 doctors arrested in drug probe at medical center

BURLINGTON, Ind. – Four doctors are among nine people arrested at a Burlington medical center as part of a drug investigation.

WLFI reports doctors Marilyn Wagoner, Don Wagoner, William Terpstra and Robert Brewer were arrested Friday on felony charges in connection with the case at the Wagoner Medical Center. Five employees of the center, including a nurse and three physicians’ assistants, also were charged.

The nine people arrested face a total of 95 felony charges.

The Indiana attorney general’s office says an investigation found unsafe pharmacological mixes, high prescribing rates for controlled pain medications and 26 patient deaths resulting from multiple drug toxicity. Drug Enforcement Agency officers raided the clinic in February.

Attempts to leave messages seeking comments at Wagoner Medical Center were unsuccessful.
