TinCaps blow out Lansing 17-8

The TinCaps scored 10 runs and batted around in the seventh and eighth innings to turn a 7-5 game into a 17-8 rout of Lansing on Saturday at Parkview Field.

Fort Wayne had a season-high 21 hits, besting Friday's mark of 15 hits. All but one TinCap, Jeremy Baltz, got a hit.

Meanwhile, TinCaps reliever Ruben Mejia slammed the door on the Lugnuts. Mejia got seven-straight strikeouts to pace Fort Wayne through the fifth and seventh innings and give his hitters time to build up momentum. By the time Mejia made his exit, the flood gates had opened.

Mejia picked up the win for Fort Wayne in front of a crowd of 4,006. Both teams piled up a collective 35 hits.
