Aboite resident faces 6 felony meth charges

– A man arrested last week after police discovered two meth labs in his Aboite Township home was formally charged Thursday with six felonies.

Stephen Gamez Jr., 39, is charged with dealing methamphetamine, meth possession, possession of a controlled substance, possession of chemical reagents or precursors with intent to manufacture, dumping controlled substance waste and maintaining a common nuisance. He is also charged with possession of paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Gamez was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Fort Wayne police raided Gamez’s home at 9912 Tiffany Drive on April 12. They discovered the one-pot meth labs along with ingredients for making meth, police said.

Gamez, 39, was not home, but police found him soon after the raid. In the vehicle he was driving, officers found meth and syringes, police said.

According to court documents, Gamez had bought pseudoephedrine medication – commonly used to make methamphetamine – 31 times since January 2012 and had been blocked 19 times in that same time period from doing so.
