Green finds Florida job, reducing what EACS owes her

East Allen County Schools’ payments to former Superintendent Karyle Green will end earlier than negotiated because Green has accepted another job.

Green has been hired by a public school district in Florida as a high school principal. Green will lead Merritt Island High School in Merritt Island, said Pam Escobar, an administrative assistant in the communications department of Brevard Public Schools. Escobar said Green’s contract with the district will begin July 1.

EACS will still be responsible for the some of a compensation package of more than $200,000 that it negotiated with Green to leave her post March 1 instead of staying through June 30, 2014, when her contract would have ended.

The district was paying Green a total of $196,126 in 35 installments. The package also gave Green some lump-sum payments and deposits into retirement accounts that Green will be required to pay back in proportionate amounts based on the date she becomes employed, according to the agreement.

Green has 10 days to notify the district when she becomes employed elsewhere.
