Armed man steals cash from Arby’s

Several Arby’s employees were interrupted while counting cash Wednesday night when a man demanded they give him the money, police said.

Police were called at 8:53 p.m. to the Arby’s restaurant at 408 E. Rudisill Blvd., city police spokesman Jason Anthony said.

The man entered the store and approached employees at the front counter. He pointed a handgun at the manager and instructed employees to put the cash into a plastic bag. No one was injured and no shots were fired, Anthony said.

The man was described as a 6-foot-1, black and weighing about 180 pounds with facial hair. He was wearing eyeglasses, blue jeans, a black beanie hat and white sweatshirt, police said. A police dog tried to track the man’s path but the scent ended in the 500 block of Richardsville Avenue, Anthony said.

Witnesses near Richardson Avenue told police a white SUV was circling the area and left at a high rate of speed. Anthony said it wasn’t clear whether the SUV was connected to the robbery, but police would be investigating any possible connection.
