Detached garage damaged by fire

A blaze tore through a detached garage early Tuesday on Fort Wayne’s south side and caused heavy damage, according to the city fire department.

About 2:30 a.m., firefighters were sent to 6009 Winter St., near East Paulding Road and South Anthony Boulevard, where they found a two-car garage in flames.

It took 10 minutes to bring the fire under control, and the flames did not spread to nearby buildings.

No one was in the garage, and there were no reports of injuries, the department said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
