IU misses out on Jaren Sina

Jaren Sina, a consensus top-150 player in the class of 2013, committed to Seton Hall over Indiana and Northwestern today.

Sina's father confirmed the news via email.

The 6-foot-2 point guard out of New Jersey was targeted by the Hoosiers as a potential add for depth at the position, in addition to Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell and incoming freshman Stan Robinson.

Sina is a former Alabama commit who switched to Northwestern and then was released from his letter of intent after the Wildcats fired then-coach Bill Carmody.

The Pirates did themselves a favor by hiring Fred Hill, a former Northwestern assistant coach who helped the Wildcats secure Sina's commitment.

The Hoosiers are at the limit for scholarships now with 13 players on full rides, and it's unclear whether they will pursue another potential backup point guard or stick with what they have now.

It is also uncertain whether IU coach Tom Crean was making the push to land Sina because he knows of another player who is considering leaving the program.

Stay tuned for more information.
