Thinking of Boston

SOUTH BEND – Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly is a Boston-area native.

Kelly said he was devastated by the explosions that took place during Monday's Boston Marathon.

"After a few hours of making calls and making sure our family and friends were safe, our next thought was to the victims," Kelly said Wednesday. "Terrible, terrible day, especially being from Boston and growing with Patriots Day being kind of our holiday, if you will, as a Bostonian.

"So not only the tragedy of the loss of life and the injured, it shakes you when that kind of private holiday that is so much Boston is shattered. It is going to be hard. It is going to take some time to get over this."
