A story on Page 1A April 9 about Lutheran Health Network’s plans to build a pediatric emergency department should have made it clear that Lutheran Hospital’s emergency department now has a Level II certification for pediatric trauma from the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, according to the ACS website.

The designation is given to hospitals based on their trauma programs, Lutheran spokesman Geoff Thomas said. Lutheran’s new pediatric emergency department, which will follow the same trauma procedures as the adjoining emergency department, will not need to seek a separate certification, Thomas said.
