Mad Antics

Ticknor confident

From across the country, across the phone lines, Mad Ants coach Duane Ticknor sounds confident.

Facing elimination, the Ants will play the second game of the NBA D-League playoffs at Santa Cruz on Saturday. A Fort Wayne win, however, would send the best-of-three series into Game 3 on Sunday.

Ticknor said he showed his team the video of Wednesday's 124-118 loss to Santa Cruz. Nobody was pleased. The team, he said, didn't play well. Santa Cruz, however, played exceptionally well, particularly its 6-foot-10 center Jeremy Tyler, who ripped the Ants for 34 points.

The coach said the Ants got away from their defensive concepts, and doesn't expect Tyler to go off on a tangent Saturday.

The Ants left early for Santa Cruz. They got out there Thursday, although Ticknor said between driving to Indianapolis and airport layovers it took 14 hours to get there.
