Police chase starts in Ohio, ends in Michigan

MONROE, Mich. (AP) — Authorities in Michigan say they took four people into custody following a police chase involving a stolen SUV that began in Ohio.

The Monroe County sheriff's department says the chase began about 2 a.m. Thursday in Toledo, Ohio, and ended across the state line in Monroe.

Police say they tried to stop the SUV in Ohio, but the driver wouldn't cooperate. Police in Monroe used stop sticks that deflated two of the SUV's tires, but the chase continued. The vehicle stopped after an attempt to drive through a city park was blocked by a fence.

The driver was identified as an 18-year-old man from Toledo. He was jailed on charges included possession of stolen property and fleeing and eluding.

The department says the other three people also are from Toledo.
