Passenger dies after smashup in March

A 75-year-old Angola woman died Wednesday from injures in a March 31 car crash in Allen County, according to the county coroner.

Doris M. Bockius was a passenger in an Impala that was northbound on Tonkel Road about 3:45 p.m. when a Cadillac, also traveling north, rear-ended the Impala.

The Cadillac was traveling at high speed, and the impact caused the Impala to flip and roll several times before stopping in a field, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.

The man driving the Impala, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital in serious condition; Bockius had been hospitalized in critical condition.

Bockius’ death is the ninth traffic fatality in Allen County in 2013.
