2nd person charged in county meth bust

A second person has been charged after a drug bust at a home west of Fort Wayne last month.

Samuel Shawver, 36, is charged with dealing methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of meth, possession of chemical reagents or precursors with intent to manufacture, dumping controlled substance waste and possession of paraphernalia. He also faces a felony child neglect charge.

Shawver’s arrest on April 4 came more than a week after police searched his home at 14406 Yellow River Road.

Police detectives obtained a search warrant March 27 after discovering that Jodi Shawver had been blocked from buying pseudoephedrine because of the large amount of the drug she had been buying, police said.

Jodi Shawver, 31, was arrested March 27 on charges of meth possession, manufacturing meth, possession of meth precursors, illegal dumping of controlled waste, maintaining a common nuisance and child neglect.

During the search, police recovered two small bags and a container that tested positive for meth, as well as items used in the production of the drug.

The Department of Child Services took custody of two teenagers inside the home, police said. Police also removed 12 long guns and one handgun from the home.

Both Samuel and Jodi Shawver were being held at the Allen County Jail in lieu of $70,750 bail.
