TinCaps

  • TinCaps’ late-season collapse continues
The TinCaps lost for the ninth time in the last 13 games, falling 8-7 to the Lake County Captains at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio, on Thursday night.
  • Putting it all together
Jake Bauers lightheartedly taunted Franmil Reyes about Team USA’s win over the Dominican Republic on Wednesday in an exhibition basketball game.“We can’t win at all sports,” replied Reyes, a Dominican native.
  • Swinging, missing in rain
Tuesday night began with a 53-minute rain delay at Parkview Field and ended with more showers, but it may take more than rain to wash away the memories of the TinCaps' 5-1 loss to Great Lakes.

TinCaps handed 1st loss of season by Loons

– After a start to the Midwest League season that saw them win their first three games, the TinCaps finally lost Sunday.

Great Lakes erased a one-run deficit to take an 8-3 victory over the TinCaps (3-1) in the final meeting of the four-game series in Midland, Mich.

Starting TinCaps pitcher Zach Eflin, who turns 19 today, allowed four runs in the first three innings to get the loss.

Fort Wayne grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Alberth Martinez reached on and error and scored on Stephen Carmon’s double.

But the Loons (1-3) scored three times – two runs which were unearned – in the bottom of the second and took a 4-1 lead in the third.

The TinCaps got a run back in the top of the sixth, but Great Lakes answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to jump its lead to 7-2.

The TinCaps open a three-game series at West Michigan today.
