Human remains found along creek

CEDAR GROVE, Ind. – State Police say skeletal human remains have been found along a creek in southeastern Indiana.

Sgt. Noel Houze says the remains were found Sunday morning by people walking along Big Cedar Creek in southern Franklin County near the community of Cedar Grove.

The Palladium-Item reports ( that Houze said it hasn’t been determined if the remains found about 25 miles northwest of Cincinnati are those of a male or a female or an adult or a child. He says the identification process could take several weeks.

The remains were scheduled to be taken Monday to Cincinnati for examination by the Hamilton County (Ohio) Coroner’s Office. Houze says DNA and other forensic testing will be done on the remains to determine the individual’s cause of death.
