Crash kills teen at DeKalb motocross track

A Spencerville teen died Sunday after crashing a dirt bike at a motocross track in DeKalb County, according to Indiana conservation officers.

Tyler D. Cook, 16, was riding a Honda CR 250 dirt bike at the Tri-State Motorcycle Club, southwest of Butler at 3443 County Road 63, when the crash happened.

Witnesses told authorities that Cook went off a jump on the motocross track and a crash landing left him unresponsive, conservation officers said.

Police and medics were sent to the track about 5:30 p.m. A Butler police officer performed CPR on Cook at the scene, and medics took over when they arrived.

Suffering from a possible neck injury, Cook was taken to DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn where he later died, conservation officers said.
