I started this year's vegetables indoors by seed a couple of weeks ago, but it isn't too late to start your vegetables and flowers for the summer.
I covered the trays with plastic to help them germinate and placed them in my fireplace where there is a constant heat source from the pilot light. This really helped the eggplant and peppers that like it extra warm to sprout.
Now that the plants have sprouted, they are receiving sunlight from an east facing window.
This year I have added Green Envy a cherry sized tomato that is green when it is ripe and tomatillo that grows in a husk to my assemble.
I also seeded my outside garden yesterday with early-spring loving kale, pak choi, Swiss chard and spinach. Today's rain ought to help get them started
