Howard says he'll play

Mad Ants point guard Ron Howard, who has been out of the lineup since March 21 when he suffered a fractured right wrist, said he will play in the Ants' playoff opener against Santa Cruz on Wednesday at Memorial Coliseum.

Howard confirmed his status before the Mad Ants practiced Monday. He missed the last seven games.

The 6-foot-5 point guard is second on the team with a 19.1 average, and leads the Ants with 4.7 assists per game. In the Ants' two victories over Santa Cruz this season, Howard averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 assists.

The Mad Ants play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The best-of-three series resumes in Santa Cruz, with a 10 p.m. game Saturday. If necessary, a third game will be at 9 p.m. Sunday.
